How thick is the ice on Lake Hopatcong?

Has anybody been out on the ice? Has anybody set up an ice skating rink? Anybody gone ice fishing?

Was out yesterday by barnes and got out 10 feet, jumped pretty hard and it felt/sounded solid but did hear crackling sounds as i walked. Mulled aorund for a few and decided to head in. There were some kids playin hockey out by the shore club towards landing. Sure after the next few cold days it will be just fine.

There were ice fishermen up on byram cove today. saw some ice boats near kabobs as well.
A state funded zamboni would be nice but will not hold my breath :)

Saw lots of people out on the lake Friday on the South side, though some areas look like they aren't even frozen.

I have seen people out almost everyday, which is really scary. Even when it was really warm, puddles on the ice, and I could see water at some of the edges I still saw people out! Some people are just Darwin Dumb. It has been pretty cold the past few days so I might venture out on the ice, but then again, its so much warmer inside.

Spring can't come fast enough!
